Getting It Done
Sep 08, 2019Are you willing to move out of your comfort zone to get what you desire?
Your comfort zone might look like seeing 17 patients a day and not getting your charting done and whining about forms and blaming patients or the system for why you are not getting your work done and charting once the kids are in bed. Trust me, you can stay in this comfort zone for your entire family medicine career if you want!?!
No.Thank.You!!
I am done with that!!
If you want it, you can get double the work done in that same time with all your charting done.
However, you are going to have to be willing to double down in your effort and give up the comfort of whining, procrastinating and wasting time.
You are not signing up for comfortable!
You are signing up for a journey of being compassionate to yourself as you lead yourself through the discomfort of learning how to work more efficiently even when you don't want to. Trying and failing and trying and failing at figuring out how to make everything you do in your day more efficient.
It will probably take 6-12 months of consistent practice to perfect each change until it becomes who you are.
But you know what? Your life can become unrecognizable! More patients, less homework, weekends free to pick up a new hobby. Being reliable in your ability to get home at a scheduled time.
If you are willing to face discomfort and failures then you can make this happen for yourself!
A coach can make this journey easier by helping you find your blind spots. Helping you notice the sweet stories you tell yourself that stop your progress like "I have difficult patients", "I'll do it later", "I'm too busy".
Are you settling for comfortable? Even if it feels like overwhelming busyness? Even if it feels like burnout? Even if it feels normal because that's how everyone else in the office does it too?
Question everything and consider if you truly have to live like this!
